Your server is the engine room for your AI systems. This guide walks you through buying and configuring it in under 10 minutes.

What is a VPS and why do you need one?

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a dedicated cloud computer that runs your AI systems 24/7 — even when your laptop is off. Think of it as the engine room for your automations. Everything we build for you lives here.

We use Hostinger because it's reliable, affordable, and straightforward to set up. The KVM 2 plan is all you need.

Use this link to get started (saves you money on checkout):

1
Purchase Your VPS Plan

Go to Hostinger and navigate to VPS Hosting. Select the KVM 2 plan.

On the checkout page, you'll see your cart:

Hostinger checkout showing KVM 2 plan at $9.99/mo
Your cart should show KVM 2 at $9.99/mo with the 12-month term selected.
  • Period: 12 months (saves you $174 vs month-to-month)
  • Daily auto-backup: Optional, but recommended for peace of mind
  • Domain: You get one free — skip it if you already have one

Hit Continue and complete payment.

2
Choose Your Server Location & Operating System

After payment, Hostinger will ask you to configure your server.

Server location: Select United States (best performance for US-based operations — 43ms latency).

Operating system: Click Ubuntu.

Operating system selection with Ubuntu highlighted
Select "Plain OS" tab, then click Ubuntu. Do not select anything else.
Why Ubuntu? It's the industry standard for servers like this. All of our deployment scripts and systems are built for Ubuntu.
3
Select Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

After clicking Ubuntu, a popup will appear asking you to choose a version. Click the dropdown:

Ubuntu version dropdown showing 24.04 LTS selected
Open the version dropdown and select Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
Important: Always choose the LTS (Long-Term Support) version. It's the most stable and is supported until 2029. Do not select 25.10 or 25.04 — those are cutting-edge releases that can break things.

Once 24.04 LTS is selected, hit Confirm:

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS confirmation dialog
Confirm Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and continue.
4
Find Your VPS in the Dashboard

Once Hostinger finishes provisioning your server (usually less than 2 minutes), head to the VPS section in the left sidebar.

Your new VPS will appear with its IP address and a green "Running" status.

You'll see your new server listed with:

  • A hostname (like srv1xxxxxx.hstgr.cloud)
  • Your server's IP address — save this, you'll need it
  • Status: Running (green checkmark)

Click Manage to open the server dashboard.

5
Review Your Server Overview

Inside the dashboard, you'll land on the Overview page.

Your server's status page. Key info: OS version, SSH access, and resource usage.

You don't need to understand everything here, but note these key things:

  • OS: Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (should match what you picked)
  • Status: Running
  • SSH root access: You'll see ssh root@your-ip-address
Screenshot this page and send it to your RE Reset onboarding contact so we can verify everything is configured correctly.
6
Set Your Root Password

In the left sidebar, click Settings, then open the Main settings tab.

The Settings page where you'll set your root password.

Under Change Root Password:

  • Click Generate to create a strong password
  • Copy that password and save it somewhere secure (1Password, Notes, etc.)
  • Click Update password
Critical: Send this password to your RE Reset onboarding contact securely (we will provide a secure upload link). This is how we log in to build your systems.
7
Share VPS Access With Our Team

Hostinger lets you grant access to your VPS without sharing your main account password. This is the safest way to give our team the access we need to build your systems.

In your Hostinger dashboard, click your name in the top right corner. A dropdown menu will appear. Select Account sharing.

Hostinger profile dropdown showing Account sharing option
Click your name in the top right, then select "Account sharing" from the dropdown.

On the Account Sharing page, click the Give access tab, then click the purple Give access button.

  • Enter the email: jake@rspur.com
  • Select Manage Services & Billing for access type
  • Click Send invitation

We will receive an email and accept the invitation on our end. Once accepted, we can manage your VPS directly from our own Hostinger dashboard.

Why this matters: Account sharing keeps your personal information private while giving us the access we need to set up and maintain your systems.

You're Done.

Once you've completed these 7 steps, your server is ready. Send us:

We'll take it from there.
